These Dark Chocolate S’mores with fresh berries are the perfect, easy summer dessert and the best s’mores you’ll ever have!
In the summer, our fridge is always full of fresh berries!
These berry s’mores are a great way to enjoy summer’s harvest! They’re easy to make and are the most delicious s’mores ever, along with these cookie dough s’mores!
I’m guessing most of you have plans that involve a bonfire and s’mores at some point this weekend {and if not this weekend you most definitely do sometime this summer}! Well, it’s time to add an extra delicious, super special flair to your s’mores by using some dark chocolate and fresh berries!
Use GOOD chocolate!
Its’ all about the chocolate. Really. You need to choose high-quality dark chocolate to make this recipe really shine! We all loved Ghirardelli 72% Dark Chocolate in these Dark Chocolate S’mores with Fresh Berries! Because dark chocolate and fresh fruit is a quintessential summer dessert combination {in my opinion}!
I’ll admit that my husband was pretty skeptical about this particular creation. You see, before he took a bite of one of these Dark Chocolate S’mores with Fresh Berries, he thought that the only chocolate that should be used to make s’mores was Hershey’s Symphony Bars…which I’ll admit do make a pretty tasty s’more.
However, as I watched him eat one of these Dark Chocolate S’mores I could see that his mind was changing. Finally he said out loud what I suspected with each passing minute…”these are surprisingly good. In fact, I think they’re better than my “normal” s’mores!”
That’s right folks. Ritch thinks these beauties are better than the way he had eaten s’mores his entire life! Even Bethany, my oldest daughter, said that her raspberry dark chocolate s’more was the best she’s ever had! 10 points for mom!
Make these Dark Chocolate S’mores in the Microwave, Oven, or Over the stove!
True Story: We make s’mores year round in our house! It’s one of my kids’ favorite desserts, and they’re so easy and fun to make! In the summer we pull out our backcountry stove and roast our marshmallows over the flame.
In the winter months we roast our marshmallows over the open burners on our stove. And sometimes…I’ll admit…we just use the microwave! Because watching the marshmallows get really big is super fun! 😉
How to make Dark Chocolate S’mores with Fresh Berries
- Lay out the ingredients. As is true when making any variety of s’mores…the #1 tip to making them great is setting up all the ingredients before roasting the marshmallows. Lay out your grahams with the chocolate on top, select which berries you’ll use and have them in a bowl ready to go. You have to be quick to get that warm marshmallow to melt the dark chocolate to gooey perfection!

Can I be totally real for a second and say that I don’t love the 4th of July {gasp}! For the past 6 years I haven’t seen any fireworks because I’ve either had a newborn or a nursing baby. I mean, why do fireworks shows have to start past my bedtime?! {I know, I know the sun doesn’t set…blah blah blah}!
But really, having little kids on this holiday makes it a bit challenging. Ritch will take Bethany and Gabe this year, but the verdict is still out whether or not Naomi is old enough to tag along without turning into a monster when the clock strikes 10. 😉 I do love that the Hogle Zoo gives free admission to veterans and their immediate family members on the Fourth of July! It has become our family’s tradition to go in the morning every year and we love it!
Question: What are you doing to celebrate the fourth of July?!
