Ingredient Substitutions
Almond Milk. you can also use coconut water, lite coconut milk, etc.
Frozen strawberries. You can use fresh strawberries, but in order to make a smoothie that's thick and cold (without adding ice) I suggest freezing them first.
Vanilla extract. you can use vanilla bean paste or omit if desired. However, if you're going for the creamsicle flavor definitely use vanilla!
Frozen Banana. Adding frozen banana to smoothies is my favorite way to sweeten a recipe and impart a creamy texture. Using frozen banana means that you don't need to add ice to make it thick and cold.
Lemon juice. I like the splash of acidity in this smoothie to cut through the sweetness of the watermelon. Lime juice is a good substitute too.
Store/FreezeYou can store this watermelon smoothie in a glass jar with a lid for up to 1 day in the refrigerator or 1 month in the freezer. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
