Ingredient Substitution Notes
*Grapefruit. I suggest using your favorite grapefruit. I use a 12 ounce grapefruit (337 grams) before peeling – 6 ounces (177 g) after peeling.
Milk. Use your favorite. I suggest almond or coconut milk for the best results.
Frozen Strawberries. Since grapefruit is in season at a different time of the year than strawberries, I use frozen berries instead of paying too much for fresh ones.
Banana. I always suggest using a frozen banana to make a thick, cold, creamy smoothie without having to add ice.
Honey. If you like a super tart smoothie, by all means you can omit the honey
Mix-ins. You can add greek yogurt, chia seeds, bee pollen, spinach etc. to this smoothie to add more protein and nutrients.
Store/FreezeI recommend serving this grapefruit smoothie right away. If you want to save some for later, I suggest storing it in a glass jar with a lid (leaving a little room at the top for the smoothie to expand as it freezes) in the freezer. Thaw in the refrigerator.
