Berry S’mores: Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Graham Crackers. Choose your favorite, use a gluten-free variety if you need to make the s’mores gluten-free.
  • Marshmallows. I suggest using large marshmallows (not jumbo). Or make your own homemade marshmallows for an even tastier treat.
  • Chocolate. Dark chocolate goes so well with the fresh berries, but you can choose your favorite.

How to Make Berry S’mores

We make s’mores year round in our house. It’s one of my kids’ favorite desserts, and they’re so easy and fun to make. When the weather is nice, we roast the marshmallows on our fire pit.

In the colder months we roast our marshmallows over the open burners on our stove. And sometimes we just use the microwave.

Begin by laying out the ingredients before roasting the marshmallows.

Lay out your grahams with the chocolate on top, select which berries you’ll use and have them in a bowl ready to go. You have to be quick to get that warm marshmallow to melt the dark chocolate.

Once the ingredients are laid out, roast the marshmallow then slide it onto the chocolate.

Quickly place berries on top of warm marshmallow and cover with the second graham cracker.

Berry S’mores Recipe FAQs

Can I use frozen berries?

I do not recommend using frozen berries. They have a different texture and too much moisture.

Can I use jam in place of berries?

Absolutely, spread your favorite jam over one half of the graham cracker, and place the chocolate on the other half.
