Ingredient Substitution Notes
Almond Milk. Any milk - dairy or nondairy - works well in this recipe. Oat milk, coconut milk, 2% milk, etc.
Frozen Banana. I never make a smoothie without a frozen banana. It adds creaminess and keeps the smoothie thick without needing to add ice.
Frozen Strawberries. I love using a red fruit because it makes this carrot smoothie so beautiful. You can use raspberries in place of strawberries. Or, if the color doesn't matter to you - use any fruit you'd like such as blueberries, blackberries, pineapple, mango, etc.
Orange. A fresh orange with the peel and and pith removed is best. Blood oranges also work.
Optional Mix-Ins: You can mix in the following to add extra nutrition:
1 cup spinach (fresh or frozen)
1 Tablespoon protein powder
1 Tablespoon chia seeds
¼ cup greek yogurt
Store/FreezeI suggest drinking this carrot smoothie immediately for the best texture! However, you could freeze it in a glass jar for up to 1 month. Make sure to leave room at the top of the jar for the smoothie to expand as it freezes.
