Welcome to “Moments” here on JoyFoodSunshine. At the end of every month I share a recap of all the shenanigans that went down in crazy town (i.e. my life in a nutshell).  So here it is for January 2017!

Recipe love:

Here are a few must-share recipes from the month of January from my favorite spots around the web!

Salmon Superfood Salad from Dishing out Health {Prettiest salad EVER}

Mini Chocolate Cream Tarts from The Sweet and Simple Kitchen {Be still my heart}

Flourless Chocolate, Peanut Butter & Maca Skillet Cookie from The Fit Fork Feed {I want to dive in}

“Breaded” Paleo Chicken Cutlets from The Paleo Running Momma {LOVE}

Creamy Dreamy Peanut Butter Pie from The Beach House Kitchen! {Chocolate and peanut butter heaven}!

Life with my tribe:

The Plague

Or at least it felt like it. We spent the first two weeks of 2017 totally sick. Seriously, Bethany started throwing up at 12:30 AM on January 1st and it didn’t stop for 12 days. This was pretty much our life during that time…chillin out maxin’ and relaxin’ with a barrier of blankets and a puke bowl on hand.

My sweet momma sent us some flowers to brighten up those puke-filled days.

Bethany turns 6!!!!

I can’t believe I just typed that. My first baby turned 6! We had a blast celebrating our sweet girl. I have tried to type this like 100 times and I just can’t find the words. This beautiful little lady made me a mommy. She is spunky and sweet and I love watching her personality unfold as she navigates her way through this world!

We celebrated in true Bethany fashion, donuts for breakfast, mac & cheese for lunch and burgers for dinner. She even drew and designed her own cake this year, because nothing on Pinterest was striking her fancy {LOL}! We also went to see the movie Sing as part of her celebration. I seriously can’t even tell you how much I love this girl and how much I can’t believe she is SIX YEARS OLD!

AND she lost her first tooth!

Agh…I may have cried way more than I should’ve over this. Slow down time. We don’t do the tooth fairy {or Santa Claus, or the Easter bunny} because we are super convicted about never lying to our kids. However, we still made her first tooth-losing experience fun and made a HUGE deal about it. And of course, she got some cash money under her pillow at night {from mommy and daddy}!

A few of my favorite things…

OBSESSED with these Vince Camuto Booties. Like seriously they are so comfy and cute and I could wear them all day every day!

and this Rose Gold Vegan Leather Clutch from Urban Expressions!

I’m also absolutely loving this Mascara! It uses ion technology to curl your lashes…and it actually works! I’ve tried SO many mascaras and this one is my new favorite hands down!

Well that’s all she wrote! I’d love to hear a highlight from your January! What are you looking forward to in December?

  2. It was so sad to see all of you sick, but I’m thankful for God’s merciful healing! And that’s so awesome that Bethany had her birthday after you all got better. My sister Bethany is turning 20 this year! O_O

    1. Thank you Emily! It was definitely a rough couple of weeks! Now I have to fight the urge to hole up in our house until June so that we don’t get sick again!
