This is the best sausage pizza recipe. Homemade pizza dough, is topped with delicious pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and lots of sausage! Learn how to make sausage pizza at home and skip the takeout!
You can crumble the sausage into a nonstick skillet or form 1 tsp balls of sausage with your hands and drop them into a nonstick skillet.
Then, cook the sausage over medium-high heat until browned, stirring often. If crumbling the sausage, be sure to break it into smaller pieces as you cook it.
Once cooked, set aside.
Preheat the Pizza Stone
Put a pizza stone in the oven and preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.
Assemble the Pizza
Roll out the pizza dough to a 14” circle on a piece of parchment paper (for easy transfer to the pizza stone).
Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough.
Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
Evenly distribute the cooked sausage on top of the cheese.
Add the remaining 2 cups mozzarella cheese on top of the sausage.
Use a pizza peel to transfer the pizza on the parchment paper onto the baking stone in the oven.
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Remove the pizza from the oven (using the pizza peel) and transfer it to a wire rack to cool for 10 minutes.
Cut with pizza scissors or transfer to a large cutting board and use a pizza cutter, and serve.

Additional Toppings: If you want to include additional toppings, you can add them with the cooked sausage before the second layer of cheese. Some suggestions included (but are not limited to):
