Chocolate peanut butter frozen bananas are an easy, 3 ingredient dessert recipe! They are a healthy & delicious frozen treat.
Chocolate peanut butter frozen bananas are one of my favorite, healthier desserts.
In this simple recipe, bananas are spread with peanut butter, then coated in a mixture of melted chocolate and peanut butter.
Use your favorite chocolate (milk, semisweet, or dark) to customize them to your tastes. I love having these on hand, especially in the summer, for a quick and nutritious way to satisfy my sweet tooth.
Chocolate Covered Bananas: Ingredients
- Semisweet chocolate. dark, milk, or semisweet are all great choices. Bars, chips or discs all work well because the chocolate is melted.
- ย Peanut Butter. Use a firm, creamy peanut butter. If you have an allergy to peanuts, any nut or seed butter works such as almond butter, sunflower seed butter, etc.
How to Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Frozen Bananas
We’ll walk through this recipe together, and don’t forget to watch the video.
Begin by cutting the bananas in half, widthwise. Then, insert a stick inside each half – if desired.
Next, spread each banana half with peanut butter and place them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Freeze the bananas until completely hardened (about 2-3 hours).
Note on Banana size
You can cut the bananas into any shape or size you prefer. I typically cut them in half, but you can leave them whole or cut them into small circles for a quick, bite-sized frozen treat.
Next, melt the chocolate and remaining peanut butter together until smooth and transfer the mixture to a tall glass.
dip the frozen bananas in a mixture of melted chocolate and peanut butter. Then place them back on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper.ย
Since the chocolate bananas are already frozen, the chocolate will harden very quickly and set up beautifully with a shiny finish and minimal chocolate pooling on the bottom.
Since they set up quickly, if you want to add a topping like nuts, sprinkles, etc. you will need to do so immediately after dipping.
Once all the frozen bananas are covered in chocolate, place them in the freezer for an additional hour to harden. Once they are hardened you can add an optional drizzle of peanut butter, chocolate, etc.
Serve
Serve these peanut butter chocolate frozen bananas straight from the freezer. Don’t let them sit out too long or the banana on the inside will soften.
Store
Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months.

- Carefully spread 1 Tablespoon creamy peanut butter lengthwise on each banana half (this will equal ยฝ cup peanut butter), and evenly space them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Place the baking sheet into the freezer for at least 2 hours (and up to one day), or until bananas and peanut butter are completely frozen.
- Once bananas are frozen, melt the chocolate and remaining ยผ cup peanut butter in the microwave or over a double boiler. Stir until smooth.

- Repeat until all the bananas are covered in chocolate. You may need to use a spatula to scrape the chocolate from the glass and spread it onto the last banana so it can get completely covered.
- Place the baking sheet back into the freezer for at least two hours, or until the bananas are frozen.
- Serve frozen.

Notes
- Semisweet chocolate. dark, milk, or semisweet are all great choices. Use bars, chips or discs – it doesn’t matter because it’s melted.
- Peanut Butter. Use a firm peanut butter or a natural peanut butter that has been stirred and refrigerated so that it is firmer and can spread easily. If you have an allergy to peanuts, any nut or seed butter works such as almond butter, sunflower seed butter, etc.

Hello!!
Super delicious recipe! I love it ๐
Just a note though: they arenโt actually dairy free… chocolate has dairy in it and my friend whose allergic to dairy wouldโve had an allergic reaction to them if he didnโt already know that… ๐
Hey Wynter! These are one of my favorite treats for sure! And just FYI there are MANY brands and varieties of chocolate on the market that are completely dairy-free! YAY! Try Enjoy Life Foods or Sunspire Chocolate so you can make a batch that your friend can enjoy too! ๐
Non- dairy chocolate does not have dairy in it. ๐ You just need to read the labels carefully. I made this for the first time over the weekend with vegan chocolate. Soooo goood!!! Thank you Laura! ๐๐ฝ
