Then, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F and grease a 9×13โ€ baking dish with butter.

Then, arrange the peeled and sliced potatoes in about 3 layers in the baking dish.

Once the potatoes are arranged, make the sauce. Begin by melting the butter a 5-quart saucepan over medium heat.

Then add the onion and garlic and cook until the onions are soft, which takes about 5 minutes.

Next, stir in the flour, salt and pepper and cook for about 1 minute, or until the roux it just begins to brown.
