Snapshots

One of the highlights of our month was seeing Spiderman in theaters. We rarely go to the theaters, I’m talking maybe once a year. This was such a good movie and it was so much fun experiencing it for the first time with the kids in a room full of people!

Sports season is upon us – and we love going to cheer on Gabe’s football team. One of the games this month was so stormy and we all got caught in a downpour (which is unusual for Utah) and it was so much fun.

Went to see Train (and Barenaked Ladies) with one of my friends and it was the best. The Drops of Jupiter album was my high school anthem basically – and I loved every second of the show!

The highlight of the month for me was taking Naomi to Florida, just the two of us. This has been a difficult month for her little heart, and I knew she needed a break. So we booked airline tickets on a Thursday and took off for the beach on Monday!

Before this trip she was not acting like herself at all. I knew she needed some time to process through some things and it wasn’t going to happen in the rhythm of daily life. She’s loves the beach, so I figured a little sea air would do her good. We took long walks, she shared her heart, and I learned so much about her and how she thinks, even when things are hard. She really is an amazing person who is so kind and so loving and such a gift.

Parents – I know it can be hard, especially if you have a lot of kids or they’re young, but prioritize alone time with your kids. You learn so much more about them when they get your undivided attention. <3

We started back to school this month. My. little kids were sick on their first day of co-op, and then the next week Naomi and I were in Florida, so I haven’t gotten that “first day” picture with them yet. But here is B on her first day of her sophomore year. I can’t believe it!

Well, that’s all for August. I hope you had an awesome month and are ready for the fall!
