March was a great month, we snuck in some skiing and I went on a solo trip to the beach!

“I can’t remember all the times I tried to tell myself to hold on to these moments as they pass.”

Welcome to “Moments” here on JoyFoodSunshine. This is when I interrupt my typical recipe content, and take time to share our family’s favorite moments from the month! Here it is for March 2026!

Life Lately

My sweet K got her PICC line removed and finished her month-long home care. She was so brave, and so sweet throughout the whole thing. She even kept her PICC as a memento! 😉

She is my most quiet, independent child – but has a serious tough and feisty side. I’m so grateful she is healed, with these radient smiles abounding!

I went on a solo beach trip and it was glorious. After having 3 straight months of sickness in our house, my nervous system was shot. I thought if I heard a kid cough one more time I was going to have a nervous breakdown – haha.

So, my husband encouraged me to get out to get a break. It’s not easy for me to leave home, and in all honesty I tried to cancel the trip numerous times. If Ritch hadn’t been so steadfast in his encouragement for me to vacate I totally wouldn’t have gone. Ritch handled everything like a total boss, from homeschooling the kids to getting them where they needed to go – which was such a gift.

I was able to just be. Wake up when I wanted, eat what I wanted, read and walk on the beach all day long (I think I walked 10 miles a day, minimum). I spent the first two days crying off and on – and I think it was just my nervous system letting out all the stress and concern I had suppressed to survive (especially while K was in the hospital). I can’t always relax at home – with homeschool and my business being run out of the house, I work basically every minute I’m awake (I know, I need to change…), so I often need a new location to really rest. This trip was just what I needed, and I’m grateful we were able to make it happen.

Also this month Gabe and Naomi participated in a piano federation performance. It was our first time and they both got the highest scores possible! I’m so proud of them.

We also snuck in one more ski day at Deer Valley. It was great in the AM, but by the afternoon we were water skiing on slush! It’s been unseasonably warm here – highs in the 80s in March, and many resorts are closed or closing soon. But we were grateful for this last beautiful day!

While I was flying to FL, the person behind me put their stocking feet on my arm rest. I was so grossed out, and felt like it was not a very polite thing to do. However, I couldn’t bring myself to say anything. When I feel uncomfortable I often start laughing, and that is exactly what happened. I laughed uncontrollably as quietly as I could, and then moved on. But when I shared this photo on my Instagram stories, the responses were hilarious so I had to share a few. I was just glad that I wasn’t the only person who thought this wasn’t appropriate flying etiquette! 😉
