There’s something about the change in seasons that makes me seriously crave banana bread! Really, when are bananas not in season? They’re always available at the grocery store (or gas station or drug store) for a reasonable price, I always have some on hand in the freezer, and I’m never without a few overripe bananas sitting on my counter.

In true JoyFoodSunshine fashion just any old banana bread recipe would not do. I needed to create a healthier version that is irresistibly delicious and, of course, packed full of chocolate chips…enter the very {very} best Paleo Banana Bread!

I know it’s a pretty big deal to claim to have created the very best Paleo Banana Bread…but I can’t help it, that’s how I feel about this recipe! Here’s why…

  • It’s so moist and dense, yet has a beautiful crumb!
  • The ingredient list is short, and consists of things we always have on hand!
  • It delivers a nutritional punch and is so much healthier than it’s traditional counterpart!

Seriously people, I’m saying goodbye to all my other banana bread recipes and will only be making this Paleo Banana Bread from now until the end of time.

My daughter Bethany asks for this bread for dessert! Yes folks, she chooses this over brownies and ice cream and popsicles! {Oh my}! The only other time she chooses a healthy dessert over a “regular” one is when I whip up these Chocolate Peanut Butter Coconut Bars! I love that I can serve a dessert (or snack or breakfast) that is gluten-free, dairy-free, paleo and sweetened with a measly 2 TBS of maple syrup! Yep, total mom win…if I decide to share…because come on this stuff is so good. 🙅🏻 🍌 🍞

Paleo Banana Bread

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8x4” baking pan (you can use a 9x5” pan but your loaf will be thinner and baking time will be less) with parchment paper and grease. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl combine coconut flour, almond flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon). Set aside.
  3. In a large, glass mixing bowl melt together coconut oil and almond butter (for about 1 minute on high), stir until combined.
  4. Add mashed banana, maple syrup and vanilla extract and mix.
  5. Add eggs and stir until smooth.
  6. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until completely combined.
  7. Gently mix in chocolate chips.
  8. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-40 minutes, until top is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in the pan for 5 minutes before gently removing the loaf from the pan to a wire rack to cool.
  10. Enjoy!
