This pineapple salsa recipe is a vibrant, delicious and healthy dish to serve alongside your favorite Mexican recipes.

Made with 6 fresh ingredients like juicy fresh pineapple, red onion lime juice and cilantro, it is a flavor-packed dip perfect to serve with salty tortilla chips.

This is a mild pineapple salsa, but you can increase the heat by adding diced jalapeรฑo.

Pineapple Salsa: Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Fresh Pineapple. make sure your pineapple is ripe and sweet. I don’t suggest substituting canned.
  • Red onion. Yellow or white onion are good substitutes for red.
  • Lime juice. fresh or bottled both work well.
  • To add heat: finely dice a jalapeรฑo pepper and mix it into the recipe.

How to Make Pineapple Salsa

Begin by finely dicing the pineapple and red onion and chopping the cilantro. This is the most time-consuming part of the recipe.

Then, add the ingredients to a medium-sized bowl with a lid. Start by adding ยผ tsp sea salt, then you can taste and adjust accordingly after it chills.

Stir the pineapple salsa until the ingredients are evenly combined.

Then, secure the lid and transfer the pineapple salsa to the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour.

Serve

When ready to serve, stir, taste and adjust salt as necessary.

Then, transfer the pineapple salsa to a serving bowl and garnish it with extra cilantro, onions, etc. and serve chilled.

Ingredients 
 

  • 2 cups pineapple finely diced
  • ยผ cup red onion finely diced
  • ยฝ cup cilantro chopped (measured before chopping)
  • 2 Tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • ยผ to ยฝ teaspoon sea salt
  • ยผ teaspoon cumin

Instructions 

  • Finely dice the pineapple and red onion and chop the cilantro.
  • Add the ingredients to a medium-sized bowl with a lid. Start by adding ยผ tsp sea salt.
  • Stir to combine.
  • Secure the lid and transfer the salsa to the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour.
  • When ready to serve, stir, taste and adjust salt as necessary.
  • Transfer the pineapple salsa to a serving bowl. Then, garnish with extra cilantro, onions, etc. and serve chilled.
