Since catching colds is a part of life, especially in the winter, I try to find ways to keep our immune systems healthy and strong – like drinking this immune boosting tea.

If it appears that anyone in our house is coming down with something, I make this apple cider vinegar tea for the entire family. I once had a friend come over who had been coughing all day. I made her a cup of this tea and her cough disappeared.

This immune boosting tea is super easy to make with only four ingredients, including water! It’s a home remedy that will boost your immune system, fight colds, ease a sore throat and calm your cough!

Immune Boosting Tea: Ingredients & Health Benefits

Let’s chat a little bit about how this tea both prevents and eases cold symptoms.

  • Water. One of the best things you can do for yourself when you feel a cold coming on is to stay hydrated.
  • Lemon juice. This powerhouse is full of vitamin C, which we all know helps boost immunity. It also contains vitamin B6 which calms nausea. Lemon juice aids in digestion and actually helps fight infections because it has antibacterial properties.
  • Raw honey. It’s full of antioxidants and has both anti-fungal and antibacterial properties, which means that it helps kill germs.  Plus, honey coats your throat which helps soothe soreness and calm coughs.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar. The main substance in ACV is acetic acid, which kills bacteria and helps your body fight off infections. It is also anti-inflammatory, and inflammation contributes to many illnesses. (try this apple cider vinegar salad dressing)!

How to Make Immune Boosting Tea

This apple cider vinegar tea is very easy to make. Begin by brining water to a boil. I like using an electric tea kettle to do this.

While the water is boiling, add the lemon juice, honey, and apple cider vinegar to a mug.

Once the water has finished boiling, pour it into the mug with the other 3 ingredients.

Stir and let cool until it’s warm but drinkable. You can add a few ice cubes to speed up the cooling process.

Serve

Serve the tea as hot as you can handle it without burning your mouth. The warmth of the tea soothes sore throats.

I really love the recipe and I’ve been making this tea for a long time now, I can say that it really helped my immunity.

  2. I haven’t heard of this before and can’t wait to try it (today, in fact, for my cough) but will probably also add some fresh-grated ginger.
Would also like to share that w have been very successful, for over 20 years, at either avoiding or minimizing the flu using the homeopathic remedy called Oscillococcinum. It is extraordinarily effective, but especially if you start taking it at the first hint of symptoms. But even when it’s too late for that, it will still remove the fever, aches n pains, leaving only the symptoms more typical of colds. I am never without it in our home.
I also, either before or after hand washing, soak all our dishes in water w a tsp to Tbsp of chlorox, then rinse before drying. It prevents reinfecting each other (I don’t trust the dishwasher for that). These two steps have made ALL the difference for us, but now I will add your tea as well. Thank you! (Could also use echinacea tea instead of just boiling water too!)
Love your blog, btw. Was just introduced today but am already eager to try many of your recipes!

I have been making this for years and I swear by it!! It also has cured my (no longer existing) acid reflux I’ve had since I was a child. Magical exlixer! I add a cinnamon stick or two from time to time and it’s delicious!! Thanks for sharing and hope the family stays healthy this season!
