This rich and creamy strawberry smoothie recipe is made in 5 minutes with 6 ingredients including Greek yogurt, honey, and lots of strawberries! It’s a high-protein, refreshing breakfast or snack perfect for busy days!

This strawberry smoothie is the perfect way to start any day (just like all my healthy smoothie recipes)!
It’s thick and creamy without adding a banana – so if bananas aren’t your thing, you’re going to love this recipe (or try my strawberry banana smoothie)!
Greek yogurt makes this smoothie extra creamy and adds tons of protein. Using frozen strawberries ensures this strawberry smoothie recipe is thick and cold without needing to add ice (which can water down the flavor)l
It’s made in mere minutes with a handful of simple ingredients, and you can add some boosters like protein powder or spinach to make it even more nutritious!

Strawberry Smoothie Recipe: Ingredients & Substitutions

- Milk. Almond milk, whole milk, and 2% milk are all great choices.
- Honey. Maple syrup or agave work well in place of honey.
- Strawberries. You can use fresh or frozen strawberries in this recipe – but I recommend frozen for the thickest, creamiest smoothie.
- Vanilla Greek Yogurt. For the best flavor, use a vanilla yogurt. I use Greek, but Icelandic is also a good choice. If you use a plain yogurt (not vanilla flavored) you may just need to add more honey to achieve your desired sweetness.
- Lemon juice. This adds a brightness to the smoothie – you can omit it if you prefer.
- Vanilla extract. Adds depth of flavor, but can be omitted.
Strawberry Smoothie Add-Ins
There are a handful of ingredients you can add to make this smoothie even more nutritious. Here are some:
- Spinach, kale, greens. You can add up to 1 cup of spinach, kale, or mixed greens and it will not change the taste or texture of the smoothie at all. It will change the color and it won’t be pink.
- Protein powder. If you’d like to add more protein without affecting the flavor at all, I’d recommend adding a scoop of unflavored collagen protein! To intensify the vanilla flavor you can also add a scoop of your favorite vanilla protein powder.
- Chia seeds. For extra protein and fiber, add 1 Tablespoon chia seeds.
- Bee pollen. Rich in antioxidants and nutrients, add 1-2 teaspoons.

How to Make a Strawberry Smoothie
I’ll walk through how to make a strawberry smoothie with you step-by-step, and you can watch the video!
First, add the wet ingredients. Starting with the milk, then yogurt, honey, vanilla, and lemon juice. This ensures an even and easy blend.

Next, add the frozen strawberries.

Then blend, starting on low and quickly increasing to high, for 50 seconds, or until the mixture is smooth and thick. Be careful not to over-blend or it will be thinner.

Serve
Pour the strawberry smoothie into two or four glasses and enjoy as a healthy snack or as part of a nutritious breakfast. I love to serve it with banana oatmeal cookies or peanut butter banana baked oatmeal.
My kids and husband all love this smoothie. For a fun twist, you can add some homemade whipped cream on top.

Store/Freeze
If you want to store leftover smoothie, I suggest freezing it in a glass jar, but make sure you leave room at the top for the mixture to expand as it freezes. However, it’s best when enjoyed right after blending.

Strawberry Smoothie Recipe FAQS
Yes, frozen strawberries are preferred because they make it cold and thick and creamy. If using fresh, you may want to add ½ to 1 cup of ice to retain that texture.
Use frozen strawberries and don’t blend for too long. You can add frozen spinach too, or extra ice.
I suggest milk – whole milk, 2%, almond milk, etc. Coconut milk and coconut water work well too, but they add a coconut taste.
You can replace the yogurt with a frozen banana, avocado, or use dairy-free yogurt.
Yes absolutely, many fruits pair well with strawberries in this smoothie like pineapple, mango, oranges, banana, etc.
The Greek yogurt already adds protein, but you can increase it and add protein powder, nut butter, or even cottage cheese.
